He became afterwards assistant director on Jean Schmidt’s documentaries, before directing his first film, which was rewarded with awards in several festivals. Awarded by the Foundation for Vocation, he has been following his path in the direction he has chosen and has been investigating “Le Cinéma du Réel” throughout his films. He shares now his time in between the writing and direction of documentaries and the filming of live show recordings (music, dance, plays). About Ciaran: Ciarán was born in Dublin, Ireland, where her grew up. Ciarán studied at Ireland’s oldest film school, DIT School of Media, where he graduated in 2014. Ciarán has always focused on stories which engage the audience. His directing career began with two original full length stage plays, which were performed in Dublin in 2012. Ciarán then travelled to America where he apprenticed Academy Award nominated Director, John D. Hancock, on his independent feature ‘Swan Song’ and had two films go into production, with the options purchased by Columbia College Chicago. Upon his return, Ciarán wrote and directed ‘Viral’, a short drama based film around a real-life event before penning and producing ‘I’ve Been a Sweeper’. Sweeper portrays Ciarán’s love of travel and connection, with the main character’s life being one of travel and discovery. Ciarán has received funding from the national Irish broadcaster for his upcoming short ‘The
Great Wide Open’, which will go into production in September 2014.
